It’s that time of year to mark in your calendars the date for Second Wind Community Concert Band’s celebration of the Winter Solstice on the Eve of the Winter Solstice, Thursday, December 20th at 7:30 p.m. out at the Boardmore Playhouse. Doors will open at 7:03 pm and you will be entertained with the music of Dr. Jim Guy and Folksinger Janet Bickerton. Come early for this prelude.
“Wintertime Is Here” will have favourites of the season, along with special guests, singer Linda Muise, the MacArthur Dancer’s and Jim Guy and Janet Bickerton to round out this special presentation.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased down at Mercer’s Service Center on the Esplanade and at the Cape Breton Curiosity Shop and during the show we will pass the bucket around for donations for the Every Woman’s Center. Don’t forget to add some money to your purse and pockets for this amazing organization. Wanda Earhart from the center will be there reminding us all of how kind Cape Breton people are and how fortunate we are to be able to celebrate through music and to be able to help this community.
Wendy Bergfeldt from CBC Cape Breton’s Mainstreet will be the emcee and following the show there will be a reception in the lobby with warm apple cider and delicious shortbreads and goodies to guide you home.
This is always a beautiful way to start the Christmas week and the Winter season, the Eve of the Solstice, Thursday, December 20th.
