On October 29th at 7:00PM New Dawn’s IDEAS Powered by Passion, The Shannon School of Business and the Tompkins Institute are proud to welcome in partnership, Marty Donkervoort.
Marty Donkervoort is a passionate social enterprise practitioner and educator. He recently led an award winning social enterprise project in the construction and renovation field in Winnipeg. Social enterprises are businesses owned by nonprofit organizations, that are directly involved in the production and/or selling of goods and services for the blended purpose of generating income and achieving social, cultural, and/or environmental aims. Social enterprises are one more tool for non-profits to use to meet their mission to contribute to healthy communities. Mr. Donkervoort has worked across Canada in the fields of social enterprise and cooperatives.
Dr. Catherine Leviten-Reid, researcher and Associate Professor of Community Economic Development at Cape Breton University, will host the evening. Celebrated local musician and visual artist Victor Tomiczek will perform. We will also hear from public health nurse and international board certified lactation consultant Kim Shebib about the important community initiative “Make Breastfeeding Your Business”.
Please join us Thursday, October 29th at 7:00PM in the Chapel at NDSCI for an evening that will inspire, inform, and engage both minds and hearts.
