Show Dates: August 2, 3, 4, 12, 13.
In 1977, as the cast of the very first Rise and Follies of Cape Breton Island prepared to take the stage, they hoped that they would not outnumber the audience. They soon found out that there was a line up that started at the front door of the Lyceum and continued down George Street turning the corner onto Dorchester where it stretched for two more blocks. The show was a resounding success. It went on to be a hit for several more seasons and on into its next incarnation, The Cape Breton Summertime Revue. Many artists who spent their early days upon the Revue stage went on to have national and international careers.
The time has come for the the “Next Generation”. Cape Breton Island has no shortage of talented performers who love nothing better than to celebrate what it means to live here. A stellar cast of performers has been assembled; among them you will find a few familiar faces and many new ones including Stephanie Hennessey, Peter MacInnis, Margaret MacPherson, Jordan Musycsyn and special guest performer, Heather Rankin!
The music, both traditional and original, speaks to our love of home and the comedy is as sidesplitting as you would expect it to be.
The “Next Generation” will be directed by Revue alumnus, Maynard Morrison. Ed MacDonald is on board as Head Writer. Musical Director is Stephen Muise and the Revue band will include Band Leader, Fred Lavery who will be joined by Allie Bennett, Richard Burke, Brian Talbot and Boyd MacNeil.
The Cape Breton Summertime Revue – The Next Generation will get you right where you live!
Tickets are $54.50.
