Vision by Alistair MacLeod
Vision takes us on a journey to explore the loss of innocence and coming of age. On the last day of lobster fishing, a father reveals to his son a multifaceted story of his family’s history as it was revealed to him through a series of events. It begins with the dark but humourous fairytale journey of himself and his brother across the water to the imaginary Cape Breton community of Canna to visit their visit their grandparents and discover that nothing is as it appears. Through stories of second sight, ancient curses, deep moonshine doused passions, uncertain parentage, and legion brawls, MacLeod’s beautifully woven story is told in a light hearted “Story Theatre” format by the St. Ann’s Bay Players.
Adapted and edited for the stage by Bev Brett, Vision features Gary Walsh, Mary Ann Wilson, Todd Hiscock, Murdena MacDonald, Yvonne Le Blanc, Frank MacKenzie, and Jitka Zgola
