Donnie Dumphy’s Wheelie Wheelie Good Tour makes 3 stops at Governors
Although the Friday, March 25, show is sold out, Governors Pub and Eatery has scored two more nights with Donnie Dumphy’s Wheelie Wheelie Good 2011 Tour on Sunday, March 27, and Monday, March 28 at Governors Pub in Sydney.
Dumphy gained notoriety in a series of skateboard videos created by Leon Parsons and Nik Sexton of St. John’s, Newfoundland. From there, Dumphy went on to posting YouTube videos featuring his unique “Gib rap” hip hop stylings. One video, “Havin a Time”, has almost a million views and there is talk of a Dumphy feature film. And Sexton and Parsons have produced a CD with Dumphy as well.
Dumphy’s popularity has led to his Cape Breton debut selling out with the two added shows after a one night visit to Halifax.
According to Donnie’s website, other characters in the Dumphy-verse are Brenda, Donnie’s girlfriend (“Got a staring problem?”), Donnie’s younger uncle, Michael, Donnie’s tripolar buddy, Ronnie Driscoll, and DJ Crafty, whom the website describes as “actually a pretty normal guy”.
Advance tickets for the Sunday and Monday shows are available at Governor’s, 233 Esplanade, Sydney, are $8 Advance and $10 at the door the nights of the shows. Doors open at 7pm and shows are at 8pm.
