RSS SUBSCRIPTIONRudolf Henninger’s sculpture “Come Together” unveiled in Port Hawkesbury – September 18th
With the support of MacLeod Resources, the J. Franklin Wright Gallery, and the Town of Port Hawkesbury, we are delighted to announce the installation of the newest piece of public art for the Town of Port Hawkesbury and visitors to the area. Given the central location and prestigious nature of the site, it was the intent of the City of Port Hawkesbury to encourage activity in the Civic Centre and at the same time create a significant “landmark” for the town.
This idea was artistically transformed by Rudolf Henninger by creating out of solid marble three abstract human figures, attached to a middle base and stylized as silhouette sculptures. Each of these marble parts has an approximate weight of 1 ton. The material was kindly donated by McLeod Resources of River Denys.
It is at the River Denys quarry where Rudolf Henninger has spent the past ten weeks sizing, cutting, drilling, grinding, polishing his work of art, thankful for the support of the quarry workers and their heavy machinery. Along with a keen eye for 3-dimensional design, Henninger is committed with international experience to his craft as a sculptor and happy to have his art represented in his home community.
The piece entitled Come Together, will be unveiled Friday September 18, at 4:00 p.m.. The public is invited to attend, and view this wonderful piece of work up close.
