CHRISTINA GUNN of whycocomagh is earning heaps of praise for her first novel Lily…the young author, who just turned 17 in november, has just seen her fantasy novel go into its 2nd printing . . . THE BARRA MACNEILS will be touring the mainland with their show ‘celtic christmas’…it runs from the 15th – 19th, finishing at st. matthew’s cathedral in halifax before coming home for the second annual 5 star blow out bash at centre 200…joining the macneils on the bill for the bash are RECKLESS, SAM MOON, KILT and a special solo performance by BRUCE GUTHRO . . . J.P. CORMIER will be touring with STUART MACLEAN’S VINYL CAFÉ in mid december…dates in nova scotia, new brunswick and pei include a stop at the savoy theatre in glace bay . . . some cape breton artists will be traveling off island to ring in the new year…JENNIFER ROLAND will be performing in saint john, new brunswick while SLAINTE MHATH have dates booked in ontario including the 31st in hamilton at a club called, appropriately, “Slainte!” . . . gardening guru JOANNE GARDNER of orangedale has just released a new book called Herbs in Bloom…she, her husband and their farm are featured in the december issue of canadian gardening magazine . . . THE CHIEFTAINS‘ album Fire in the Kitchen, which features many cape breton artists, has been certified gold in canada . . .PAUL “MOOSE” MACKINNON’S fine and dandy 1998 CBLA calendar is on sale now…pick one up for yourself and someone away.
